Wimbledon Day 1
Wimbledon, Day 1 was a memorable one.
We left the hotel around 9:30am and hopped the metro to Wimbledon, making a beeline straight for the Amex private box the moment we arrived. That patio — overlooking Courts 15, 16, and 17 — became our sanctuary for the day: lunch, drinks, tennis, and later a proper afternoon tea between matches. It’s the kind of spot that makes you forget you’re supposed to be doing anything else.
We ducked out to Centre Court for the second round and caught Sinner grinding out a win over Nuno Borges that was tighter than the 7-6, 7-6, 6-4 scoreline suggests — two tiebreaks, a save at 5-4 when it could’ve slipped away, the defending champ slowly finding his rhythm right in front of us. Two days removed from a five-set scare, and he still made it look like work.
Back to the box for tea, then out again for Djokovic, who reminded everyone why he’s still the guy nobody wants to draw — 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 over Tsitsipas, clean and controlled from the first ball. Watching him move at this stage of his career, still finding another gear when he needs it, is one of those things you don’t quite believe until you’ve seen it live.
Centre Court on a summer afternoon, two legends doing what they do — some days you just get lucky with your tickets.
