November 8: King of the Jungle

We were up early for breakfast before heading back out for our guided safari tour. We once again came upon the leopard who was now dragging the remains of the Springbok carcass to another shady, protected location.  We got some amazing pictures and videos of the beautiful creature.

We continued our search for lions and cheetahs throughout the morning. We came across a journey of giraffes — it was the first time that we saw such a large group (16) walking together as we typically see only one or two at a time.

Shortly after noon, we hit the jackpot as we came within 10 meters of a huge male and female lion.  The impressive beasts were incredible to witness so close to us.  The male occasionally raised his head but, otherwise, the kings of the jungle remained sleeping.

After lunch, we returned to the lions to take a few more pictures as they moved locations to escape the extreme heat.  The lion and lioness were so impressive in both power and beauty.
