November 24: Skukuza Camp

We did a three hour self-guided tour through Kruger National Park entering through Orpen gate and ending at Skukuza Camp.  Just like yesterday, we saw a ton of elephants but encountered some other delightful surprises.  The first one was a group of elephants frolicking in the water —the three juveniles played in the waters, occasionally fully submerging themselves perilously close to a hippo.

Our next encounter was with a few African Buffaloes— one in particular was so close to the car!  It was definitely my best picture of this mammoth beast.

And, we saved the best for last just moments from our chalet.  A pride of lions walked right along the main road as cars stopped to get a close look at the kings of the jungle.  Once again, it was the closest I’ve been to a lion or lioness.
