November 22: Kruger National Park
We left our “palace” in Musina and embarked on the 3+ hour drive to Kruger National Park. It was a pretty easy drive that passed through several small towns, which made the travel slow but interesting. The disparity between the wealthy and poor was obvious as we passed by some amazing houses that you might see in affluent USA suburbs and sheds with tin roofs.
We saw a ton of animals as we traveled on the main paved safari route that takes you from the north to the South Gate. The highlights were the up close encounters with elephants and buffaloes. It was clearly the most buffaloes that we have seen on our many African safaris.
We camped at a comfortable spot and at steaks on the grill. It was a nice ending to a busy and hot day.
