November 14: Chobe National Park

The early morning wake-up’s continued as the alarms sounded at 4:30 am with departure at 5:30 am.  We made the bumpy drive from Savuti to Chobe National Park.  The excitement began when we made it to the riverfront route.  Looking across the Chobe River we could see Namibia and a large group of animals including springboks, zebras, impalas, hippos, baboons, elephants and lions.

The family of lions included a male, two females, and two juveniles.  One picture is perfect for a holiday greeting card from the Lyon Family.

We ended the day at the beautiful Chobe Safari Lodge where we camped for the evening. This 5 star accommodation has spectacular views of the Chobe River where you can hear the roars of the local hippos.
