November 11: Savuti
We entered Chobe National Park at approximately 10:30 am and were immediately rewarded as we came upon a pride of lions right off the road. We were joined by several other tourists who clicked many photographs of these kings of the jungle. The pride was made up of three dominant males, a few females and many babies.
After the lion sighting, we were treated with several close encounters with migrating elephants. The giant animals showed their quickness as they avoided us like celebrities fleeing from paparazzi. We also observed a sick wildebeest and an owl. We also stopped by a man made water hole that attracted a bunch of male elephants. It reminded me of visiting the local elks back home. The rest of the day we searched unsuccessfully for leopards and cheetahs. At least it gives us something to do together.
