October 28: Etosha National Park
We began our morning self-guided Safari tour at 6:20 am. Unfortunately, our early wake up was not rewarded as we saw very few animals during the first two hours of our journey. After a quick stop for breakfast, we found several animals – mostly zebras and wildebeests as they walked to a water hole and then enjoyed a well-needed drink.
We spent the afternoon at the pool as we attempted to stay cool in the sweltering midday heat. We paid way too much for a guided night tour – it was $40/person. Although we did see lions, they were a good distance away and pictures were extremely blurry. Our guide used a red light in order to not frighten the animals but this fact also made the photos less than ideal.
