October 21: Walvis Bay
We awoke at 5:00 am to catch the sunrise as we simply walked from our campsite to the base of the granite peaks. The morning sun brought out the orange colors of these impressive structures.
After breakfast, we made the hour and a half drive to Walvis Bay where we were treated to a spectacular collection of pink flamingos. We were blown away by the shear numbers of these beautiful creatures. They were equally as lovely whether they were wading in the shallow waters of the bay of gliding above it.
We eventually settled at Lagoon Chalets where we ate barbecue steaks and enjoyed the comforts of this outstanding campsite. Our spot was paved with gray bricks with bamboo fences providing just the right amount of privacy. The bathroom facilities were also top notch.
