September 12: Kalsoy

We took the short ferry ride from Klaksvik to Kalsoy.  Once we arrived, we grabbed a bus to Trollanes where we began our trek to the lighthouse in Mikladalur. The steep ascent  was wet and muddy, which made for a slow hike. As we approached the peak, we were greeted by sleet and a beautiful rainbow.  The views from the apex were amazing and made the treacherous trek worth the journey. 

On the way back, we met a young woman from Canada who was nice enough to drive us back to the port. We made one stop to see the Seal Woman of Mikladalur, which provided us with more spectacular photographs.  The story of the Seal Woman of Mikladalur is a little strange with seals coming out of the sea, shedding their skin, becoming human and enjoying time in the city.
