September 11: Mullafossur
It is a solemn day in American history and a reminder of the people who lost their lives during the senseless attacks over 20 years ago. I hope that we will never forget the brave first responders who risked/gave their lives to rescue so many innocent victims. Additionally, I hope we will never forget that the heinous acts of a few radicals is no reason to generalize an entire population of people.
After doing a load of laundry, we left our campsite and drove to viewpoint of the Mullafossur. Before we reached our destination, we stopped by the start of a hiking route where we saw several cars. We decided to trek to Mullafossur, which ended up being an excellent decision. The views from the peak were incredible as you got a view of the waterfall, the village and many other rock formations and land masses. The 2 hour journey was well worth it and we just hitched a ride back to our car through the tunnel from a local resident. The views from the top overshadowed those that we witnessed from the viewpoint.
We ended the day by driving to the Klaksvik port as we were going to catch a 8:00 am ferry in the morning.
