August 9: Smyril Line to Iceland
Although about 24 hours later than expected, we boarded the ferry to Iceland with a huge crowd of fellow travelers. This destination definitely attracted an adventurous type as we witnessed many 4x4 vehicles including some military truck RVs.
Our room had a window with a beautiful view of the rough ocean. We eventually made it to the 10th floor to the Laterna Magica cafe/bar. Here we observed many people drinking, snuggling and reading while enjoying the spectacular views of the oncoming sunset.
While reading a biography of Leonardo DaVinci, I came across a fabulous quote that would be perfect to open a school year. “Above all, Leonardo’s relentless curiosity and experimentation should remind us of the importance of instilling, in both ourselves and our children, not just received knowledge but a willingness to question it—to be imaginative and, like talented misfits and rebels in any era, to think different.”
