August 6: Goodbye Norway
We were sad to leave the natural beauty of Norway as we boarded our ferry to Denmark at 13:30. We completed five breathtaking treks (Preikestolen, Kjeragbolten, Bessegen, Ramsdalseggen, and Trolltunga) during our five week stay. Besides our day in Bergen, we stayed away from major cities and enjoyed the nature that Norway offers.
In addition to the amazing treks, I will remember the picturesque drives along the serpentine roads of this unspoiled country. Our travels along route 55 rival our journeys from Banff and Jasper in Canada; the Amalfi Coast in Italy; and the shoreline of Portugal. The reindeer meat, smoked salmon and delicious brown cheese delighted our taste buds during our visit.
The Fjord ferry was new and clean. After taking much needed showers, we headed up to the top deck for some wine and live music. The fresh air and music were good for the soul.
