June 26: Camping Laguna Park
It was a hot one today! While making the drive to our next destination, the car thermometer read 110 degrees Fahrenheit! As we drove in air conditioned comfort, we observed Moroccans walking; riding donkeys; shopping in outdoor markets; and working in the fields— yikes!
After a long slow drive along the picturesque coastline, we arrived at Camping Laguna Park in Oualidia. This city is famous for their fresh oysters although it is currently off season due to the high temperatures.
I’ve started to think about what are some of the lessons we have learned over the last two years of traveling. So here are some initial thoughts:
Don’t be afraid to ask for and give help
Language is a barrier that can be overcome
People are good
A smile is always well received
Kindness is universal
The poorest people we met turned out to be the happiest and most generous
People laugh when they see me dance
We are much more similar than different
People around the world spend a ton of money on places of worship
Take risks — leave your comfort zone behind
Laugh at yourself
Don’t take yourself too seriously
Enjoy the present — don’t worry too much about the past or future
Sunrises & sunsets are calming
