June 22: Opening Parade

We made a stop at Carrefour to shop and park our camper van before taking a taxi to the Essaouira Music Festival.  Our first stop was down to the fish port where we bought about 50 sardines for $1.50.  We had 20 of them grilled at a restaurant on the dock for another $2.00.  The fish was prepared perfectly with just enough salt, which resulted in a tasty treat.

Next, we made our way to the opening parade but were a little disappointed since we had a poor spot to view the ceremonies.  The music and energy of the performers and crowd was palpable.  At the conclusion, we headed first by taxi and then by campervan back to our campsite.
