April 18: Jardin Majorelle & Bahia Palace

We made it to the Jardin Majorelle for its 8:00 am opening along with several others who also planned to avoid the crowds. Once inside, we strolled around the beautifully landscaped botanical gardens of trees, flowers and cacti.  But, the absolute highlight was the blue Cubist villa designed by French architect, Paul Sinior. The blue villa with yellow doors and colorful flowers was a favorite for picture taking.

Next, we traveled to Bahia Palace where we were once again joined by large crowds of tourists.  According to its website, “The Bahia Palace is a 19th century building, consisting of 150 rooms decorated with stunning stuccos, paintings and mosaics palace and a set of gardens.”  Its name means brilliance and the palace certainly lived up to its name with beauty in every direction from the floors to the walls and the ceilings.
