March 8: Portugal
After devouring delicious strawberry and banana pancakes (thanks Ashley) for breakfast, we made the four hour drive from Salamanca to Porto, Portugal. It was the perfect day to make the long journey as we encountered rain for most of the ride. Right before we entered Portugal, we registered for an EasyPass, which they use to collect tolls from tourists. It struck me at how efficient this model was when contrasted with the systems set up in France and Spain where toll booths reigned supreme. Once we registered online for our EasyPass, money was simply added to our bill based on our license plate number – we will have to pay the fee at the end of the month.
The drive provided time to reflect on our spectacular visits to Avila Castle and Salamanca. Here are my two favorite pictures from yesterday.
