March 4: Mercado de San Miguel

It was a beautiful day in Madrid.  We made the trek from our campsite to downtown, which included a 30 minute walk and 20 minute bus ride.  Once we arrived, we did a quick tour of the city before descending on Mercado de San Miguel, which was a heavenly spot for tapas and drinks.  The place was packed as revelers sampled tasty food and beverages from a variety of vendors.  The price wasn’t cheap but that didn’t deter folks from indulging in their favorite cuisine and libation.

After eating a few appetizers, we strolled over to Mesón del Champiñón where we ate lamb chops, sausage, mushrooms, peppers and rice.  We also ordered a bottle of red wine to complement our food selections.
