March 2: Santillana Del Mar & Los Picos de Europa

After a relaxing morning at Orio Kanpina, we drove three hours to Santillana Del Mar, which is a town in the Cantabria region of Spain.  The old town had a familiar appearance to others that we have visited with beautiful cobblestone roads and an impressive church.

Next, it was another 2 hour drive to Los Picos de Europa. Once we arrived, we took a short but spectacular cable car ride to the top of this National Park.  The views from the snow covered peak were beautiful but paled in comparison to the ones we experienced in Rifugio Lagazuoi — think we are getting spoiled. 

We drove off the mountain to a small town at its base and retired in a parking lot for the evening.
