March 16: Cool New Friends

It was a pretty relaxing day as we spent the morning at Baleal Beach exercising and watching the hundreds of surfers.  

Next, we had lunch with Gaby and Manfred — the couple who we met yesterday.  Ashley made some extremely tasty Kimbap and we exchanged travel adventure stories.  Despite traveling for over 20 months, we were no match for our new friends from Germany who have been traveling pretty consistently since 1981! As a way to bring their stories to life, they showed us several pictures and videos from their journeys to South America, Africa and Europe — it was amazing!  Manfred showed me a cool app called maps.me that showed each of their trips on a world map.

Finally, we made the one hour drive to Sintra where we found a campsite, washed dishes and took showers.  We plan to take an Uber to downtown Sintra in the morning.
