March 14: Happy Pi Day
We were up early to catch a view of the morning surf at Navare Beach. It was definitely worth a little bit of grogginess, which disappeared almost instantaneously at the first sight of the crushing white crest waves. The sound was so loud that it felt like the ground was shaking below your feet. You could actually feel it in your chest much like when you’re in the first few rows of a rock concert. As we walked closer to Forto Sao Miguel Arcanjo, the waves appeared to get bigger and louder. It reminded us of being on the shores of a Northeaster back home without the wind and precipitation. I can clearly understand why so many people visit this place — absolutely spectacular.
From here, we made a couple of stops at a grocery store and city market before making our way to the day’s campsite. After lunch, we walked along the beach and watched some folks get surfing lessons.
