March 11: Taberna dos Mercadores
After a relaxing morning, we made our way to downtown Porto by bus. We had an amazing lunch at Taberna dos Mercadores where we ate octopus with rice and maybe the most delicious lamb ribs I’ve ever eaten. The octopus was super tasty and tender. The lamb with potatoes was cooked with garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and obviously lots of love.
After lunch, we had a couple of beers at a restaurant by the river and enjoyed some outstanding live music. We met a few friendly locals — one woman who was originally from Porto and now lives in New Jersey was with her brother. We also chart with one of the waiters who was studying to be an engineer— a super nice guy with an incredible personality.
