February 5: Montefalcione & Naples

We made the trip to Montefalcione — my mom’s birthplace.  I was so excited to see where she spent the first 10 years of her life. Montefalcione is a quaint, cool village with cobblestone streets, colorful pastel houses, and magnificent churches.  I didn’t really know what to expect when we arrived but I was blown away by this lovely place.

From here, we drove a little over an hour to the Port of Naples where we were scheduled for a ferry to Palermo, Sicily at 20:00.  While waiting, we walked into downtown Naples.  We ate fried pizza, margarita  pizza, aranchetti, and gelato.  The streets were bustling as many locals strolled the streets enjoying the brisk Sunday afternoon.

We boarded at about 19:00 and settled into our comfortable cabin.
