February 20: Cortina d’Ampezzo

It was a much slower pace today as we “relaxed” at our campsite.  Ashley made cucumber kimchi while I did an upper body workout.  We eventually got motivated and walked around downtown Cortina d’Ampezzo.  This bustling ski town reminded us of Banff in Canada with a main street filled with high end shops and restaurants with a beautiful mountain background.  You could smell the money from the high end tourists.

From here, we took the Faloria cable car with over 30 skiers to an altitude of over 2100 meters in a New York minute or two.  Once we arrived at the top, skiers had access to over 30 slopes while we enjoyed the scenic view of surrounding mountains and the valley below.

Next, we grabbed a “4 Seasons” pizza at Ristorante Pizzeria El Bronsin for 12 euros and enjoyed it with a bottle of Chianti that we had in the van.  The rest of the day was spent enjoying the beautiful scenery and relaxing in this picturesque town.
