January 5: Korean Barbeque

On our last day in Korea, we packed our stuff in preparation for our 29- hour excursion (flights/layovers) to Albania.  I’m pretty sure we're bringing over 20 pounds of kimchi, seaweed, Korean spices, sauces, and pastes.

For our last meal in Seoul, we visited a restaurant that specializes in Korean barbecue.  We traveled to Majang Meat Market, which I would call the biggest collection of butcher shops in the world. We saw every possible part of a cow and a pig that you could imagine, including feet, head and internal organs.  After selecting a butcher (like finding a needle in a haystack), we went to the third floor to cook our meal over some white hot wood.  The well marbled beef was tender and tasty!

In preparing for our next adventure, I watched a YouTube video of the best restaurants to eat in Athena and here are some suggestions:

  • O Kostas

    • souvlaki

  • To Kafeneio

    • Meatballs

    • Fried feta with honey
