January 24: Elafonissi Beach

We made the two-hour drive from Balos Beach to Elafonissi Beach and were rewarded with more turquoise waters, pink sands and cedar trees. The natural setting reminded me of the dunes of Cape Cod added to this pleasurable experience. Although an extremely popular destination during the summer months, we had this tranquil setting almost to ourselves -- sharing it with a young family,

After relaxing for a bit on the beach, we embarked on another two-hour drive to Imbro Gorge.  We decided to camp here for the night and tackle the 8 km hike in the morning.
