January 17: Fira to Oia
We made the 3+ hour trek from Fira to Oia and it became obvious why so many people flock to this Greek Island. The whitewashed houses and villas with their private infinity pools looking out over the cliffs down to the Aegean Sea are spectacular. Unfortunately, the many restaurants, cafes, and hotels along this breathtaking coastline were closed for the season but it didn’t spoil our exhilarating hike, which brought back fond memories of the one on the Lycian Way in Turkey. The Mediterranean Sea was replaced by the Aegean and we observed blue domed churches in place of mosques.
We saw some amazing villas for your 2nd honeymoon with your 1st partner or 1st honeymoon with 2nd partner during our memorable trek from Fira to Oia. We ended up taking the bus back to our van and drove to a picturesque viewpoint to eat and enjoy another incredible sunset.
