January 16: Santorini

We began our journey to Santorini early as we left our “campsite” at 6:00 am and headed to the port of Pireas.  The most challenging part of today’s journey was driving onto the ferry in reverse for the entire length of the vessel while avoiding trucks and the hull.  The eight hour ferry ride, on the other hand, was a breeze as we napped, ate, and drank a bottle of wine from Pizoma Family Winery.  

Once we made it to Santorini, we drove to a beach and watched the sunset. Although we only saw a tiny bit of this amazing island, the stage has been set for an incredible day tomorrow when we trek from Fira. to Oia.
