December 9-15: Relaxing Week at Diamond Cliff Resort & Spa
It was a pretty relaxing week at the Diamond Cliff Resort & Spa. We definitely got our money’s worth when it came to the Fitness Center as we both visited it daily. The facility was well equipped for both strength and endurance training. It also provided guests with towels and bottled water.
We also spent an enormous amount of time relaxing in our exceptionally comfortable room. The weather during our weeklong visit varied from extremely hot & humid to downpours associated with thunder & lightening shows. The humidity caused our ocean view window to resemble the doors of a steam room. The weather was certainly one factor in keeping us indoors and the other was a stomach bug that hit me on the second day of our stay.
The two pools were also awesome places to find relief from the sticky weather. The lower pool, located near the Ocean View Restaurant, seemed to focus on adults while the upper Waterfall Pool was dedicated to families with kids with a fun water slide.
Although many aspects of the resort were positive, the food was disappointing. The morning buffet had lots of options, including many breakfast and lunch dishes – none of them were exceptional. I stuck mostly with a traditional western breakfast that included omelets, bacon, toast, pancakes, yogurt, fresh fruit and coffee while Ashley opted for rice, Thai soup, noodles, and salad. Lunch/Dinner was even more hit or miss. The Japanese Restaurant Kiko was definitely a miss with tiny portions from the set menu, low grade sushi, and wicked salty stir fry dishes. We had slightly better luck at Ocean View Restaurant with the highlights being from the dessert menu, specifically tiramisu and creme brulee. The pizza and pasta were average at best with jar flavored pasta sauce.
