December 31: Happy New Year's Eve

Happy New Year’s Eve.  Our first stop was at Gyeongju Daereungwon as we walked around the tombs of this solemn location.   According to Google, “Daereungwon Tomb Complex contains several large ancient tombs of kings and nobles of the Silla Kingdom. There are twenty-three large tombs located here; the most famous being Cheonmachong and Hwangnamdaechong.”

From here, we made a quick stop at a Korean bath to relax in the warm and cool baths.  The salt water bath was especially soothing. I spent my time in the male only bath switching from warm salt to cool fresh  to warm fresh to sauna then rinse and repeat until fully rejuvenated.

Next, we arrived at Sooyueng’s beautiful beach condo that had a beautiful view of the pier.  We quickly headed down for dinner, which included a variety of raw seafood and steamed crab.  The raw seafood salad was brilliant— a perfect mix of sweet, savory and spicy.  The steamed crab was outstanding even without drawn butter.

Our last stop before heading back to the condo was for karaoke— we had a great time singing and dancing to mostly Korean tunes. I threw a so so version of My Way — pretty sure Sinatra was rolling over in his grave.

Once we were home — you guessed right — we ate again!  This time it was fried chicken, Korean side dishes, and beer.  We brought in the new year watching the uplifting, feel good movie, John Wick.
