December 28: Tongdosa Temple

We left Whale Story at 10:00 am so that we could arrive at Tongdosa Temple by 1:00 pm for our temple stay orientation.  According to the literature provided to us, Tongdosa is a thousand year old temple that was founded by Master Jajang of Shilla Dynasty (57 BCE - 935 CE). It was designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage under the name ‘Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea’ on June 30, 2018. 

After a bit of exploring, we observed the daily performance of the four Dharma instruments and prayer with the monks.
