December 25: Naksan Temple

Merry Christmas.  We made it to an 11:00 am Christmas mass, which featured several Christmas tunes supported by the festive choir.  Although everyone sang the songs in Korean, I used the English version to get into the holiday spirit.

Next stop was to Naksan Temple, which according to Google is a “Korean Buddhist temple complex in the Jogye order of Korean Buddhism.”  The temple is built on the slopes of Naksan Mountain overlooking the breathtaking blue waters of the East Sea.  The surf was high and rough, which provided an amazing background for this spiritual place.  Many, who made the pilgrimage to this sacred place, paid their respects while praying at the various temples.

We ended up at a quiet restaurant with phallic decorations for a chicken and beer Christmas dinner.  The chicken was absolutely delicious and hit the spot.
