November 25: Happy Turkey Day from Turkey

Interesting Thanksgiving — We worked out at Marmaris Beach this morning.  The views at sunrise were even better than the ones from yesterday.  After a so-so breakfast at Reis Maris Hotel, we made the ride from Marmaris to Pamukkale. Pamukkale is a town in western Turkey known for the mineral-rich thermal waters flowing down white travertine terraces on a nearby hillside. It neighbors Hierapolis, an ancient Roman spa city founded around 190 B.C.

We checked into our amazing hotel (Venus) and immediately drove to the center of Pamukkale for a late lunch/early dinner.  We are at the Asian Kitchen — think I enjoyed it more than Kimchi.  We had cumin lamb, eggplant with ground beef and a Korean bowl.  After lunch, we walked by the thermal waters and watched the ducks go crazy as people fed them bread.  Day 3 of no bread and no beer for me.  There were a few times when I almost got out of my chair to fight off the ducks for a delicious piece of bread

Accommodations: A+++ (Venus Hotel)

Quite simply the best hotel that we’ve stayed in since we arrived in Turkey. Comfortable bed, most amazing shower, complimentary water, coffee and tea.  Can’t wait to try breakfast in the morning.

Food: B (Asian Kitchen)

The food was pretty tasty but definitely not up to Kimchi’s standards.  She was disappointed in the dish that she ordered which she thought had kimchi in it.  Customer service was excellent as the owners had lots of information on what to do while in Pamukkale
