November 20: Day 8 Lycian Way Trek from Melonippe bay to Adrasan

After a beautiful ride from our hotel in Finike to Karaoz (Melonippe Bay), we started our long and grueling climb to Adrasan, passing by Gelidonya Lighthouse.  The trek from the lighthouse to Adrasan was the most challenging as the terrain constantly changed character from soft pine forest floors to jagged rocks.  There were several ascents and descents throughout this nearly 12 mile jaunt.  We finished with heavy legs and tremendous appetites.

Accommodations: B+

Spotless room with comfy bed.  Unfortunately, no view of sea, and no water or coffee in room

Food: A (Andrasan Ademin Yeri)

We went to a local restaurant and had some delicious food including grilled meatballs, fish and chicken wings.  The mezi was delicious — it consisted of yogurt & chives, eggplant and potatoes.  Kimchi loved the chicken wings so much that we ordered a second round.  All dishes included the same side dishes — French fries, sliced tomatoes and parsley.  We hung out for a while and chatted with some of the locals — I even had a traditional Turkish drink 45 proof Raki (like Zambuka) with mineral water.

Hike: B-

Grueling 18 km, 7 hour trek from Melonippe Bay to Adrasan. Views were ok but couldn’t compare to previous days — the return on such a heavy investment of energy fell short
