November 19: Day 7 Lycian Way Trek from Simena to Istalda and Kapakl

A trek filled with history as we regrettably left Simena after an awesome breakfast -- the blackberry jam and honey were out of this world.. Our hosts at the Simena Mehtap Pansiyon were incredibly warm and genuine.  Pretty sure the owner had a crush on Kimchi as he told her that she looked 38. We first visited the castle at Simena village before dropping down to the plains before trekking by the sea.  Smugglers Inn was a super cool spot for a drink or a bite to eat but it was unfortunately closed.  Next, we stumbled upon a group of farmers who were barbecuing chicken -- Kimchi somehow got a seat at the table and it was a definite highlight for her.  The men were so welcoming and gracious.

After meeting our driver in Kapakli, we visited the Museum of Lycian Civilisations and Myra.  The magnificent site of Myra with amazingly well preserved Roman theater and famous collection of Lycian rock tombs.  The theater was certainly the highlight for me.

Accommodations: D- (Simsek Hotel in Finike)

Old, run down hotel that was in a poor location -- several kilometers away from a bustling downtown.

Food: D (Dinner at Simsek Hotel)

Lentil Soup was pretty good -- other than that the food was nothing to write home about with little taste and not much love or effort put into its preparation.  The chicken bbq along the route was a food highlight along with the terrific breakfast in Simena.

Hike:  B

Relatively easy 8.5 km trek from Simena to Kapakli
