December 6: Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Royal Opera House Muscat

We had an awesome day as we visited both the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and Royal Opera House Muscat.  According to Wikipedia, “The main musalla can hold over 6500 worshippers, while the women's musalla can accommodate 750 worshipers. The prayer carpet, which measures 230 by 200 feet is the second largest in the world”  Upon arriving at the Grand Mosque, we were told that our dress was not appropriate. So I had to rent a robe because I was wearing shorts and Kimchi had to purchase a scarf to cover her head.  As is customary, we entered through separate lines.  Once inside, I couldn’t stop taking pictures.  I absolutely loved the clean, elegant design.

We then made our way to the Royal Opera House Muscat.  Kimchi decided to forgo the tour but I was excited to see.  The design was inspired by the Grand Mosque.  Once again,  I couldn’t stop taking pics and videos.

At lunch, I posted a ton of pics and videos on Facebook from these two beautiful places.

Accommodations: A+++ (Muscat Plaza Hotel)

Love this place!  Definitely getting spoiled with this huge room.  I love working out here!

Food:  B (Jungle Restaurant)

Absolutely beautiful spot with decent Indian Food.  We got the mixed grill and vegetable tikka masala.  The food didn’t have the usual attention to flavor as it lacked its spicy kick.
