December 27: Wadi Shab & Wadi Tiwi
It was another wicked busy day. We got up early to try to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas as it was cloudy and foggy. This fact didn’t deter us from taking a ton of pictures.
After an average buffet breakfast, we had a two hour drive to Wadi Shab. It was a little overcast but that didn’t dampen our good time. We swam, hiked and dove once we got into the cave. Kimchi was able to pull herself up without assistance — that’s one strong Korean.
Before heading to Wadi Tiwi, we picked up lunch to go. Upon arrival, we ate a quick lunch and then headed for the waterfall. I was up first and did much better than last time — no falls but I did hit the rock face pretty hard transitioning at the first cave. I also pinned my hand on the rock face while transitioning at the second cave. H, like mom, did amazing. Kimchi decided to sit this one out. After the waterfall, it was off to a slight descent using a rope without any safety. I was super cautious, cognizant of Kimchi’s slip and my encounter with the rock face.
After Wadi Tiwi, we made a quick stop at the Sinkhole so that H could take pictures. Got back to the Dunes Hotel at our 7:00
Accommodations: A + (Muscat Dunes)
We’re back at our favorite hotel for three days in a row— no packing!!! We got room 318 again and love the layout.
Food: B
“Grab and go” lunch at a local spot close to Wadi Tiwi. Food was fine — I had fish and rice. Fish was a little dry but still pretty tasty.
