October 4: Makarska

It was a chill morning as we went to the pool to relax from 11:00 - noon then did a workout before hitting the road.

The plan was to travel from Split to Ston on the way to Dubrovnik.  Fortunately, we got sidetracked and stopped at Makarska, which was in the middle of a Jazz Festival.  The beautiful town, tucked between the mountains and Adriatic Sea, is spectacular.  We walked on the boardwalk, passing  tour boats, hotels and waterfront restaurants.  We continued to a beach, where a Jazz band was performing at a steak restaurant.  The music provided a cool backdrop for the outstanding views of crystal clear blue waters and slate gray mountains.

From here, we made the scenic drive toward Ston.  This road, which serpentined along the Adriatic Sea, was unbelievable— it reminded me of the road from Patera to Kas in Turkey.
