October 17: Buni I Bajraktarit
We left our beautiful hotel but not before I devoured a ton of food at the breakfast buffet. The highlights were the fried eggs, homemade bread, spicy sausage and buttery croissants — not to mention the cheese and cappuccino.
We boarded the bus at 7:30 am and chilled during the three hour ride from Shkoder to Theth. We made one stop at the highest point on our serpentine drive at an incredible restaurant, which we returned to later in the day. During this initial stop, we took some amazing pics and I drank some delicious tea.
When we arrived at the campsite, we packed quickly and headed back up to the restaurant as Ashley had her mind set on enjoying some bbq goat. Once we arrived at Buni I Bajraktarit, we relaxed outside the camper and waited for the goat to be done. At 1:30 pm, we enjoyed goat, bread and salad. The goat was a bit gamey but had a pleasant taste — maybe like rabbit?
After contemplating whether to stay at this spot for the evening, we decided to drive about 40 minutes to the bottom of the mountain range to sleep. Ashley found a perfect spot where we worked out and then headed to bed early. The night came quickly and the air cooled as well. It was a lovely place to sleep throughout the night.
