October 12: Theth
We didn’t get up until 7:00 am — I had coffee and Ashley started to walk to Theth. I drove to pick her up and we ended up having coffee at a restaurant in town.
We were going to go to the Blue Eye but our plans changed when Ashley met a couple of folks who were hiking to Valvona, which was supposed to take 6 hours. The young group flew up the mountain as I was gasping for breath in the thin air.
After a couple of hours, we got separated from the young people and we decided to return to the van. Plans changed again when we ran into two young men who were climbing to the summit, which was approximately two more hours — all uphill elevation. After about a half hour, we ditched this plan when a few hikers said it was extremely cloudy at the top with no visibility. We eventually got down to the bottom after about 4.5 hours and 9 miles.
We found a campsite for 10 euros, ate, showered and relaxed before bedtime.
