October 1: Diocletian’s Palace
It was an eventful day as Ashley took off early for the fish market and I completed a CBS workout. Across the water from the campsite, music began blaring at 7:00 am for an Ironman type race.
After Ashley returned, we had a quick breakfast and headed back to Split to see the farmer’s market and Diocletian’s Palace. We had an amazing time as we shopped and then took so many pics and videos of people and the impressive Roman structures. We spent way too much money at a shop selling prosciutto and cheese but what the heck. We caught a cool performance from some high school students and saw the end of the "Race for a Cause" road rest to fight breast cancer.
Next, it was back to the campsite for a feast — prosciutto, cheese, grilled lamb, and salad. I also had a couple of beers. After dinner, we followed the music to the race venue and ended up eating free food. The food was delicious and nutritious for the athletes who completed the 60K race which included kayaking, running, cycling and climbing!
A bow was put on the day as we enjoyed a sauna and shower at the wellness center.
