September 29: Plitvice Lakes National Park
It was quite the busy day with a 5:30 am wake up so that we could get an early start at Plitvice Lakes National Park. We arrived by 7:30 am and began the H course by 8:30 am. The first part of the H Course was spectacular with very small crowds. The waterfalls flowed from green vegetation and the lakes were green and clear. The waterfalls were a highlight during this initial portion of our stroll.
As for the second part of the trek, the lakes were the gold medal winners as the turquoise colors were brighter and just plain more eye-catching. We took loads of pictures and videos throughout the eventful morning.
After a quick snack, we drove 2.5 hours to Zadar for the sunset. Unfortunately, Mother Nature didn’t cooperate as the clouds rolled in, spoiling the show for the many tourists who made the journey to the seashore. Despite the weather, it was still cool to hear the water organs and see the circular solar panels. We also walked around old town Zadar with its cobbled streets, amazing places of worship and tons of eateries and bars.
