September 20: Predjama Castle

It was a busy last day in lovely Slovenia.  Our first stop was only 5 minutes from our campsite.  I stopped along the road to take a few pictures of Soca Gorge.

Next stop was Skocjan Cave, which was pretty amazing.  This was my first experience seeing a river flow underground — the cave was expansive and beautiful.  The only problem was no pictures allowed.

Finally, we made the trek to Predjama Castle, which was built into a cave for protection.  We decided not to buy tickets to enter but opted for viewing the impressive structure from outside.  The castle was surrounded by cool restaurants that provided picturesque views of the castle.

From here, we made a beeline to Croatia and slept at the base of Motovan, which sits atop a small mountain.
