July 31 - August 2: Germany
Sunday, July 31
I got a workout in and did laundry before heading out on the 4+ hour drive to Frankfurt Airport. The drive was pretty easy as it was mostly on 3 lane well-maintained highways. We did see one major accident that caused a several mile backup on the other side of the road.
We made it on time to meet the Korean couple who brought us a step down transformer — we still need a 30 to 15 amp adapter to close the circuit.
Monday, August 1
We headed to Germany’s answer to Home Depot to look for a 30 to 15 amp adapter for our van -- unfortunately, no luck. Next, we went to IKEA — it was the first time in my life — holy cow. This place was huge with so much stuff for every room in the house. IKEA is an organizer’s dream.
Last stop for the day was a basic campground with no frills — just an electric space with showers and a toilet. I have to make sure to fill up fresh water and empty black tank in the morning.
Tuesday, August 2
After a relaxing morning, we headed out on a 3+ hour ride to Düsseldorf, Germany. We parked in one shady area right along the Rhine River and had a tasty lunch (Kimchi Jae Bokum) that Ashley prepared. We also had cucumber kimchi and Korean beans.
After lunch, I felt exhausted but we needed to move our van to another location. There were no campsites so we parked in a lot right next to the Rhine and adjacent to a park. After setting up shop, we walked downtown and took cool pics before visiting a Chinese and Korean market.
It’s going to be a hot one tonight — really sticking right now — hope it cools down quickly.
