June 20: Vatican City

After eating a Korean style breakfast (more like lunch), it was off to my solo tour day.  I visited the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Square and St Peter’s Basilica.  While in Rome, the showstoppers were the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t take pictures in the Sistine Chapel but I made up for it at St Peter’s Basilica.  Both venues were awe inspiring— I spent the most of my time in these religious places.  It felt oddly peaceful and relaxing. At the basilica, I also climbed the 500 plus steps for some spectacular views of Rome and the Vatican. I met a nice couple from LA (Andy and Celeste) while touring St Peter’s Square.

I grabbed a quick lunch (spaghetti and clams) and a gelato (mango, caramel and lemon) at Old Bridge Gelateria.  I managed to return home without incident.
