June 13: All'antico Vinaio

We slept in, at least for us, as we woke up at about 7:00 am.  I made a cup of coffee and did an AA workout in our room after our roommates left for the day.  We eventually made it out and went directly to All'antico Vinaio for their famous sandwiches.  We waited in line for about 15 minutes, which is pretty typical and devoured our treats.  I ordered the la Favolosa  and Ashely chose the L’Inferno.  My sandwich had a pile of  Sbriciolona salami with eggplant and cheese spreads and Ashely’s had a mound of porchetta with hot stuff absolutely heavenly.  I washed my sandwich down with a small glass of wine.

After a quick stop to buy sunscreen for Ashley, it was off to Gelateria Perchè No! for the best gelato I’ve ever eaten in my life.  I got three flavors — salted caramel, melon and lemon.  The salted Caramel and lemon were out of this world — I would rethink the melon choice.  The heat got the best of us and we headed back to the hostel for a two plus hour siesta.
