June 11: Early Morning Venice & Burano

It was a full day with a 3:00 am wake up in advance of a 4:00 am tour of Venice from our awesome hotel accommodations (B&B Art Dreams Venezia).  The early morning, although not my favorite, again provided plenty of opportunities for amazing pictures.   We practically had Venice to ourselves except for a few late night revelers.

When we got back to the room, we slept for an hour before getting in a quick workout.  Next, we grabbed a tasty breakfast— hard boiled eggs, salami, cheese, olives, vinegar peppers, yogurt, juice, and espresso.  The coffee was outstanding!!

We headed out to visit the islands of Burano and Murano — Burano is known for its colorful houses while Murano’s claim to fame is glass blowing.  I really enjoyed Burano with a ton of places for fun photos.  We also stopped by a restaurant where I tried a tasty spritz — refreshing drink on a warm day.  Ashley tapped out of Murano while I watched a glass blowing demo while sipping a Prosecco.

When we got back to San Marco, we stopped by a restaurant and I had Bigoli in Salsa — an onion and anchovy pasta dish. On the way back to the room, I also swallowed a cannoli and gelato.

At the hotel, we showered and planned for our next stop — Florence!
