March 9: Swimming with Whale Sharks in Oslob

I didn’t sleep at all last night — still pumped from swimming with sardines or the anticipation of swimming with whale sharks? The result was a groggy start to the day.  That quickly changed as we entered the water at 6:30 am and were immediately face to face with whale sharks. It was exciting to see these huge fish and exhilarating to be so close to them.  Ashley took some amazing pics and videos while I took several dives below the surface to get up close and personal with these gentle giants.

After a quick shower and breakfast, it was off to the races as we scheduled an 8:30 am tricycle for the trip to Oslob to catch the 10:00 am ferry to Bohol.  Fortunately or unfortunately, there were no ferry rides today but we could catch one tomorrow at 11:30 am.

So, we decided to stay in Oslob for the night at the Babylon Oslob Coast Guesthouse.  The bed was enormous and the room was wicked clean.  We unpacked, I worked out, and Ashley made a market run.  Next, we wandered downtown for a traditional Filipino meal — we ate 5 or 6 small dishes for only 280 pesos, which is equivalent to $5.60 for lunch for two. Too good to be true.
