March 7- 8: Moalboal--Swimming with Sardines
March 7
Total shit show of a day — woke up at 4, left the hotel by 5, at the airport by 6, no coffee until 6:45 :( No problem with the flight from Boracay to Manila but we missed another flight from Manila to Cebu.
As I waited in line at Cebu Pacific to get on another flight, Ashley booked one on Philippine airlines, which costs us another $100. Plus, we had to take a taxi back to terminal 2 after having just left there.
Arrived at Cebu at about 3:00 pm and then decided to take a private vehicle to Moalboal — another $40. Finally arrived at our hotel at close to 7:00 pm then hit the bed by 8. This day is an example of how traveling can be stressful -- it's not all fun and games :)
March 8
What a difference a day makes— from one our worst days to one of the best! Got up at 4:45 am, had two cups of coffee, and worked out all before 7:00 am. Made it to the snorkeling center by 7:30 am and began swimming with the sardines. Definitely was one of the most amazing experiences we’ve had so far. Besides swimming up close to millions of sardines, we also had a close encounter with a sea turtle and a whale shark.
After snorkeling, we ate a tasty breakfast and showered. Next, it was off to Oslob. First, we took a tricycle to a bus, which didn’t have AC. After getting off the bus, we got packed on a tricycle with 6 other people for a bumpy but spectacular ride to our next bus. This bus had AC, played some of our favorite music, and hugged the coastline for some glorious views.
Once we arrived at the Aloha resort, it was off to a local joint for a delicious early dinner
