February 15: Colombo to Negombo
It was hard to say goodbye to the Coral Sands Hotel. Before leaving, we had one last visit to see, not touch, our turtle. The rest of the day was dedicated to travel as we made the 2.5 hour journey to Colombo.
We returned to the C1 Colombo Fort but found out that Kimchi made the reservation for March 15 not February 15. But, instead of getting aggravated, we went to Dolce Italia and had an absolutely delicious meal — highlighted by the grilled shrimp and cacio y pepe. Kimchi started the meal by having a cannoli. The food was excellent but a bit pricey — we paid $40!
Prior to going to the restaurant, we had decided to head to Negombo. So after lunch, we got an Uber for $15. It took us a little over an hour to arrive at our chill hotel (Villa Kaburu). We dropped our bags and headed out to explore. We made it to see the sunset at Negombo beach with a bunch of Sri Lankans. We capped the night off with a swim in the hotel pool.
