February 14: Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine’s Day! We started the day early by walking over to Hikkaduwa Beach and what an excellent decision that would be for us.  We fed two sea turtles that were literally on top of us.  Lots of people gathered around as others fed and pet these beautiful creatures.  One animal extremist yelled at me for touching the giant turtle.

The rest of the day was for eating — I had the delicious buffet breakfast, relaxing by the pool and reading (finally finished my book).  We finally got motivated to go downtown to check the train schedule.  We learned it was a 2 hour drive without AC—this convinced us to arrange a private car.

Later in the evening, we walked to Mamas to hear a live band as part of the Valentine’s Day party.  We had one drink and spent two hours listening to some good tunes although I couldn’t convince Kimchi to dance.
